Grumpy Bear is one of the Care Bears and is blue with a rain cloud on his tummy. His play piece accessory is the Dumbrella.
According to a promotional brochure from 1984, "Grumpy Bear's rain cloud means he understands those occasional tough times in life."
On a poster with a saying for each Care Bear, Grumpy Bear says:
"Ever have one of those days when your ice cream won't stay on the cone or it rains on your picnic? Me, too. I sure know what it feels like to have a tough day! But, if we stick together, things are sure to get better."
