My Little Pony toys were made by Hasbro and were first released in 1982. They had plastic bodies and rooted hair that could be combed and brushed. Each one had its own look, style, and symbol on its bottom. The appeal for these ponies has never gone out of style.
In addition to the ponies themselves, there were also playsets with toys and accessories, Pony Wear outfits so the ponies could dress up, and other My Little Pony merchandise available.
My Little Pony toys are still made today, so collectors refer to the various generations as G1 (1982-1992), G2 (1997-2003), G3 (2003-2010), G3.5 (2009-2010) and G4 (2010-Present).
The classic line of My Little Pony toys has been reissued several times, with a 25th Anniversary line released in 2008 and a 35th Anniversary line released in 2018.
